The fall semester is under way, and the lab is full again — Nia, Emma, Sean, and Ari are all back at the bench. John is co-teaching two courses this term: BIOEE 1780, Cornell’s introductory course in evolutionary biology, and a new graduate seminar, Agentic AI in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, with Xiangtao Xu. The seminar is a hands-on and deliberately skeptical look at what AI agents can and can’t be trusted to do across the research lifecycle; it starts September 11, and a few seats are left.
